Windows 10 comes with some nice new features but for some folks the start menu was working just fine all the way back in Windows 7 and the addition of adverts, or maybe the scrolling list of alphabetically organised applications is something of a continuing annoyance.

Thankfully developers came up with “Classic Shell” though this application was abandoned in 2017 the developer made the project open source and updated versions are available over on GitHub under its new name Open Shell.
